Fellowship

A Fellow in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, (FRCD(C)) is a dentist who has successfully completed the National Dental Specialty Examination (NDSE), has been awarded a Fellowship diploma, has subscribed to the declaration, has paid the prescribed fees, is in good moral and ethical standing in the profession, has graduated from a post-graduate program acceptable to the College, and is associated with a specialty recognized by the Canadian Dental Association or possesses special qualifications in the dental sciences as may be determined by Council.

A Fellow Elect is a dentist who has passed the required examination(s); who has applied to the College to become a Fellow; has had that Fellowship application approved by the Registrar of the RCDC and is awaiting convocation to become a Fellow.

An Honourary Fellow (FRCD(C)(Hon.) is someone of standing in the dental profession or a friend of dentistry who has been awarded the Honourary Fellowship at Convocation.

A Fellow, Charter Fellow, or a Member whose membership in the College is in good standing, who is fully retired from active practice may apply for Life Fellowship.  Life membership must be designated as such by Council.

A member (MRCD(C)) is a dentist who has been awarded a membership certificate by the College prior to January 1, 1995, a dentist who was certified as a specialist in a recognized specialty by a provincial licensing body prior to January 1, 1973, and who made application to the College prior to the 31st of December 1973; or a dentist who successfully completed the examination required by the Colege for admission to membership and had been admitted to the Colege as a Member prior to January 1, 1994.

Fellows and Charter Fellows have the abbreviated title of FRCD(C). 
Members shall have the abbreviated title of MRCD(C).
Fellows and Members with Life Fellowship/Membership are entitled to keep their designation subsequent to retiring.

Honourary Fellows have the abbreviated title of FRCD(C)(Hon).
